Layton Forster began his Project Choice work placement as a porter with CHoICE Facilities Services, in December 2022. He has been mentored by some wonderful porters and has learned how important the role of a porter within the hospital really is. In his role, Layton works with patients, transferring them throughout the hospital, as well as delivering specimens and important equipment. In June 2023 we were delighted to offer Layton a permanent post as a porter.
We asked Layton what he liked about being a porter. He said he loved meeting different people and making a positive difference to the patients he came into contact with. He also enjoys working within the large portering team.
Layton has recently achieved his Duke of Edinburgh Gold award and was invited to Buckingham Palace for the Gold Award Celebration Event in May 23. As part of the award Layton volunteered for 6 months to work as a teaching assistant in his old school, as well as undertaking some intense activities.
All of us at CHoICE are so proud of Layton and what he has achieved and look forward to him working with us.
Well done Layton we think you are amazing!
