We’re pleased to share that the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) recently carried out an unannounced inspection of the Sunderland Royal Hospital (SRH) outpatient pharmacy—and the results were excellent!
What went well:
· All standards were met across five key areas: governance, staffing, premises, services, and equipment.
· The pharmacy was praised for being safe, clean, and well-organised, with clear roles and responsibilities for staff.
· Medicines were found to be stored and handled safely, and services were easily accessible to patients.
· The inspection highlighted a strong culture of openness, learning, and professionalism.
Special recognition: The inspection team gave outstanding feedback about some of our team members—especially the Dispensary Manager, whose leadership and dedication were clearly recognised.
A team effort: This successful inspection reflects the hard work, professionalism, and commitment of the entire pharmacy team. Thank you for continuing to deliver high-quality care and service to our patients every day.
